Edith's story as a multi-talented artist, award-winning community worker, and dedicated environmentalist based in Saltburn by the Sea, UK. Explore her journey, passions, and the impact she's making through art and community engagement.

A journey of creativity and community
My artistic journey began when I trained as a tattoo artist, working in Germany and Ireland. Once I had my children I developed my painting skills, taking commissions for paintings and painting signs which I sold at art fairs. I also began working at local schools running workshops for students and families around supporting community cohesion.
In 2012 I began studying at the Northern School of Art, where I earned a foundation degree in applied arts followed by a 2:1 Bachelor of Arts degree in textile design, receiving special commendation for my dissertation. With over 25 years of experience, I have honed my skills in diverse creative fields, such as printing, embroidery, painting, drawing, digital art, illustration, collage, and mixed media work.
I am currently working as a rep for environmental charity, Surfers against Sewage on their community awareness programs around plastic pollution. I am also a trustee of The Nest, a new Guisborough based eco community group.
I have worked with many organisations, building on professional relationships with organisations such as Borderlands, Guisborough Arts and The Palace hub as well as working collaboratively with many more.

Environmentally conscious art
As a passionate environmentalist, I place the planet at the heart of my work. I prioritise eco-friendly and reclaimed materials, being mindful of my work's environmental impact from start to finish, this reflects a commitment to both artistic expression and environmental responsibility.

Making a difference in the community
For the last six years, I ran The Cut Back CIC, a bustling Eco shop with an art gallery and café and led numerous successful creative workshops and a two-year National Lottery-funded youth group. My dedication earned me awards from The Simple Things magazine and the BBC, Making a difference program. My community work creates welcoming spaces where individuals feel valued and empowered to express themselves, share their stories, and transform environmental concerns into positive action.
